This is my officially licensed adaptation of Aimee Mann's 'Save Me' - a song with similar themes to my track - i caught my breath - hence releasing as a 'double a-side'.
This is a song I have always loved, but I've put my own stamp on it here - it's a new arrangement (in 3 instead of 4), with a new instrumental section I composed.
As with all my work on cover adaptations, I start ground up, learn the basics of the song (chords and melody) and tweak from there, moving things around, and adding what if feels works. In this case, I moved the song from 4/4 to 3/4, and the rest of the instrumentation came from that new feel. I ommited the bridge, and instead wrote a new instrumental section.
Texas based Dave Bloom (www.DaveBloomDrums.com) contributed the most excellent drum part (he really is amazing, check it out, wow!), but all other instrumentation and vocals are me.
